The province of Almeria has some 214 kilometres of coastline, covering all types of beaches. The Western Almerian Coast is characterised by its tourism – both for the population clusters and the type of terrain it covers. Its gentle landscape is great for the spacious beaches, which are easy to reach and have everything that a visitor might need at just a few metres from the beaches themselves. It’s no surprise that the nine western beaches on the province have been given the Blue Flag for Quality, aslo Almerimar´s beaches have been given the Q of Quality. So in the Roquetas de Mar Area you can find the tourist beaches of La Romanilla, Urbanisation Roquetas and Playa Serena; in El Ejido are San Miguel-West, Balerma and East- Almerimar and in Adra, San Nicolás- East and West. The “touristy” nature of the area does not, however, mean that the enjoyment of the area is at odds with the environment. Proof of this are the unspoilt beaches on this coast, as well as the natural beauty spots such as that at Punta Entinas-Sabinar, the Las Albuferas de Adra Nature Reserve, the Barrera de Posidonia Reef in Roquetas de Mar, or the Salt Flats at Guardias Viejas: all charming places which simply must be visited.
